Holdings hands with Darren is easy – too easy. A part of Chris wants to pull his hand back, wants to hide them behind his back and shield away from the warmth is Darren. But there’s also a part of him that’s aching to have that hand in his, to feel the warm pressure of Darren’s hand, their fingers interlaced tightly. He’s tired of running away. He’s been running for so long he doesn’t know how to stop. Happiness is something he’s allowed himself to feel in small doses – too much is too dangerous and in the end it’s always replaced with a sadness that just won’t disappear.

But if he stopped running, would reality catch up with him? Would he stumble, and fall to the ground?
